A senior Iranian rights official called on France to revise laws targeting the Muslim minority across the European country after the French government ordered the closure of nearly two dozen more mosques in a fresh assault on freedom of religion.
Kazem Gharibabadi, the secretary-general of Iran’s Human Rights Office, made the call in a Saturday tweet, days after France’s Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin appeared on the French television LCI and said 21 mosques that showed signs of “extremism” had been closed in the country.

The 5th International Exhibition of Transportation, Logistics and Related Industries kicked off in Tehran on Sunday in a ceremony attended by Roads and Urban Development Minister Rostam Qassemi.
Over 280 domestic and foreign companies including 40 startups, 22 new technology-based firms (NTBFs) as well as companies from Japan, China, Russia, Sweden, and France are participating in the exhibition, IRNA reported.

The 19th phase of excavations is underway in Shahr-e Sukhteh (Burnt City), an ancient archaeological site located 60km from Zabol, the capital of the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.
Dating back 5,000 years, Shahr-e Sukhteh was among the most important urban areas. The ancient site was registered on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2014.

--Iranian composers’ music to embellish Ensemble Musikfabrik’s Cologne concert
Ensemble Musikfabrik, a leading Cologne-based German group for contemporary music, plans to perform pieces composed by Iranian composers during their upcoming concert.The concert entitled “Montagskonzert” will be held at Cologne’s KOMED im Mediapark on January 10, 2022, the ensemble has announced.
“Zagros” composed by Karen Keyhani for oud is one of the pieces, while “Neues Werk” composed by Sara Abazari for oud, flute, horn, percussion and violin is another.

A team of Iranian, Italian, and Serbian archaeologists has discovered new clues about life in mysterious Burnt City in southeast Iran. The archaeologists have unearthed novel traces of prehistorical settlements during the 19th archaeological season which is still underway at the UNESCO-registered Burnt city, ISNA reported on Saturday.
Photos of the discoveries have been released by the headquarters of the World Heritage site, the report said without providing further detail.
