According to Ashura News, quoted by Mehr News Agency, Mohammad Eslami, Vice President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization, stated in a meeting with academic elites and selected members of the National Foundation of Elites of the country: Nuclear energy is, in the true sense of the word, a pioneer of development that can solve the country's problems and challenges in many areas.

He added: In his recent interview, the US Secretary of State clearly stated that countries that have nuclear weapons can enrich. Therefore, the main driving and fundamental core is enrichment. In other words, if there is negligence in this area, you cannot reach a stage where your activities are considered industrial.

The Vice President said: The nuclear industry is the cause of the authority of the Islamic Republic, which is an achievement that is forbidden for our country from the perspective of the hegemonic system. They do not want a country like Iran, which has talent, brilliant human resources, rich reserves, and a strategic position in the world, to be equipped with the tools of power.

Eslami continued: "The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has now entered the industrial phase; this has been achieved based on national needs and a strategic vision."

Referring to the importance of developing a comprehensive strategic document to create the organization’s long-term vision and plan for the next 20 years, he noted: The comprehensive strategic document for the country’s nuclear industry was developed with the participation of elites and youth in this field; a comprehensive and program-oriented document that is very important for this organization.

Eslami stated: Accordingly, it was necessary to narrate our achievements correctly at the same time as implementing measures. We must narrate the results, provide information, and form a real, dynamic, and living network from the heart of creativity for national role-playing.

Bushehr Power Plant Has Produced 72 Billion Kilowatt-hours of Electricity in the Past 10 Years

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran stated: Bushehr Power Plant, which is one of the top 8 power plants in the world in terms of safety and performance, produces more than 7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity every year. This power plant has delivered about 72 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to the network since it began operating. If this amount of electricity were supplied from fossil fuels, it would be equivalent to consuming 110 million barrels of oil. This power plant has prevented the release of about 80 million cubic meters of pollutants into the environment through its activities.

Stating that an unrealistic view of capacities and resources is one of the root problems, the Vice President added: Society is growing, and accordingly, the demand for energy is also increasing. Equipment also wears out over time and consumption increases; in this regard, our duty is to define the share of nuclear power in the country's energy portfolio.

He noted: In this period, we have started new definitions by updating past studies and issuing a document. We have established companies on the coasts of the Sea of Oman, the Persian Gulf, and the Caspian Sea. Land has been secured, areas have been identified, and projects have been started simultaneously. Some of these projects are being implemented with foreign participation and some are completely Iranian and on a smaller scale.

He added: The contribution of nuclear energy was considered in the country's energy development document approved by the presidency, and this program has also been registered in the Supreme Energy Council. Of course, in addition to nuclear power generation, nuclear technology also has broader applications that should be considered.

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization clarified: One of these areas is irradiation; the use of gamma and accelerators plays an effective role in reducing agricultural product waste. Today, about 30 percent of the country's 130 million tons of agricultural products are wasted, which in addition to financial losses, also wastes a huge amount of energy. By reducing this waste, food security will increase and the possibility of exporting products will also increase. We have so far created an irradiation capacity of 500,000 tons per year and have also called on the private sector to actively participate.

The Vice President continued: "We have established a nuclear technology committee in the Chamber of Commerce and are seeking private sector participation, just as we were successful in the mining sector. In the field of irradiation, we have defined various investment models, including domestic, foreign, and finance, and we are currently using various methods to attract resources and cooperation from knowledge-based companies.

More than 230 centers use Iranian radiopharmaceuticals

Eslami noted: Nuclear technology also plays a very important role in the field of medicine and health. More than 230 centers in the country use domestically produced radiopharmaceuticals and products of the Atomic Energy Organization, and these products are exported to more than 15 countries. If it were not for the transportation obstacles caused by sanctions, 30 countries would permanently benefit from these products.

He said: "Today, we have more than 70 types of radiopharmaceuticals in production, and about 20 products are in the research or laboratory stage." We are proud to be one of the world's leading countries in the field of radiopharmaceutical production, even in a situation where we have faced the most severe threats and pressures, from sanctions to assassination and industrial sabotage.

He added: The Islamic Republic of Iran is under the most severe inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency, but we cooperated with this institution with complete transparency to remove political accusations from the country and pave the way for the development of the nuclear industry.

Plasma technology has served the treatment of cancer and chronic wounds

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran emphasized: Significant developments have occurred in the field of plasma, especially cold plasma. This technology has wide application in the field of environment, cancer treatment and chronic wounds, especially in diabetic patients, and we have more than 6 active centers in the country that are serving the people.

He noted: Fundamental steps have also been taken in new fields such as quantum, quantum computer and laser. Some of these technologies are pushing the boundaries of knowledge, while others need to reach the commercialization process and enter people's lives as quickly as possible.

At the end of the meeting, the elites present discussed with the head of the Atomic Energy Organization and raised their specialized questions and concerns in the field of nuclear energy and other important areas of the country.
