Syrian sources reported a direct attack by the Zionist army on the Quneitra governorate building and announced that, in the shadow of the silence of the Syrian government and the international community, Israel is constantly terrorizing Syrian citizens and trying to claim that it controls all aspects of their lives.
According to Ashura News, citing Tasnim News Agency, since early December, with the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government in Syria, the Zionist regime has occupied large areas in southern Syria, specifically Quneitra province, with systematic and devastating attacks on the country and the destruction of its military capacity. News sources reported that yesterday evening, Israeli forces targeted the Quneitra governorate building with their gunfire.
The Zionist military attack on the Quneitra governorate building coincided with the presence of its people in the city center to congratulate them on Eid al-Fitr.
Local sources reported to Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed that the Israeli forces’ attack on the governorate building caused material damage to the building, and that this attack is part of the systematic policy of intimidation that Israel has been pursuing since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government in Syria.
Mohammed Bakr, a Syrian activist and resident of Quneitra province, said: "Israel wants southern Syria to remain a fragmented, aid-dependent, and unstable region, and the attack on the governorate building is a message from the Israeli army that the regime controls all aspects of life for the people of Quneitra."
He added: "We wake up here every day to the sound of explosions, our children are afraid to go to school, and the recent attack on the governorate building was near our house. Everyone knows that the governorate is a symbol of authority, and targeting it by Israel means that nothing in Quneitra is safe, and Israel wants to say that we are the ones who control your security and your daily lives."
A human rights activist in Quneitra province, who asked not to be named, said in this regard that the poor media coverage, the government’s inaction, and the deafening international silence regarding the events taking place in Syria, and the cover-up of Israeli crimes, are deliberate actions, and this is what the US government wants.
The Syrian activist continued: “The Israeli army announces that it has not set a date for its withdrawal from Syria at the moment, and therefore it seems that our region has entered a new spiral of violence.”
Syrian activist Saeed Mohammed had previously said that the situation in Quneitra was unbearable and very bad, because people’s work and lives have been shut down, and they are very afraid, and there is no one to protect these people or listen to them. This is while the international community has completely turned a blind eye and the Syrian people are not receiving any support and have a government that is incapable of defending its people.
He added: It seems that the Israeli occupation in Syria has been consolidated and this regime has no intention of leaving, and if there is no resistance, the Zionists will never leave Syria. The Zionist occupation regime is currently trying to separate the different groups of people in Quneitra from each other and create sectarian and tribal differences between them.
He expressed surprise at the silence and inaction of the new Syrian government towards the aggressions and occupations of the Zionist regime and stated: Has Quneitra really been removed from the map of Syria without our knowledge? The new Syrian government has a duty to save the people, we will not give in to occupation and will not remain silent.
In this context, the residents of the villages of Quneitra province have repeatedly reported the brutal invasion of these villages by the occupying forces and announced that the Israelis have warned these residents that they must evacuate their homes.
