A prominent Hamas source has revealed details of the resistance's strategy in creating deadly ambushes for the Zionist military, saying that the resistance fighters have the initiative.
According to Ashura News, citing Al Jazeera, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, released a video clip detailing the deadly ambush that Palestinian resistance fighters recently carried out against Israeli soldiers in the northern Gaza Strip.
This operation was a continuation of last week’s deadly ambush in Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip, in which Palestinian resistance fighters ambushed an Israeli military jeep using several types of weapons and killed or seriously injured all of its occupants, with several cases of amputations reported among Israeli soldiers.
The strength of the operations of the Al-Qassam Brigades in the border area, which is visible to the Israeli army, is very interesting, and the occupying army had declared this area as the target of its military operations since the beginning of the Gaza war.
This raises questions about the strength of the Palestinian resistance's ambushes in the Gaza Strip, while also casting doubt on the credibility of the Zionist army's repeated claims that it has destroyed the resistance's facilities and capabilities in the Gaza Strip.
The Resistance's Strategy in Creating Deadly Ambushes for the Enemy
In this regard, a prominent source in the Palestinian resistance revealed the new strategy adopted by the resistance fighters in confronting the Zionist army following the resumption of the war on March 18.
In an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera, the source stated that the resistance fighters have used their long experience in the conflicts of the past months of the war and have begun to adopt a wait-and-see policy to target and inflict special casualties on the Zionist military.
According to the source, who did not reveal his name, the Israeli army has tried to avoid direct confrontation with Palestinian forces in recent weeks and, despite the destruction of more than 95 percent of the Beit Hanoun area in the northern Gaza Strip and the launch of heavy airstrikes and artillery attacks, does not want to advance there.
The source emphasized that an examination of the behavior of the Israeli army on the battlefield shows that the army is careful to avoid any casualties in its ranks and does not want to repeat the painful losses it suffered in the final months of the war before the January ceasefire.
From October 2024 to mid-January 2025, the Al-Qassam Brigades reported carrying out a series of deadly ambushes in Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip, which, according to the Israeli army, killed dozens of its soldiers in the Al-Qassam ambushes.
The aforementioned prominent source in the Palestinian resistance continued: The strength of the resistance’s military ambushes in Beit Hanoun is due to the fact that the Al-Qassam Brigades rely on an elite unit specialized in monitoring enemy movements and planning precisely to target them in the circle of fire in their operations.
This source clarified: The Israeli army thought that by creating a buffer zone in the north and east of Beit Hanoun, it could cut off Palestinian fighters’ access to Beit Hanoun and allow the Zionist soldiers to move freely inside it without being exposed to danger. However, the occupying army had not thought about the possibility that Palestinian resistance fighters might ambush Israeli forces from behind the lines.
What this Palestinian resistance source says is consistent with what Abu Ubaidah, the spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, said a few days ago; Where Abu Ubaidah had emphasized: Resistance fighters are engaged in heroic battles and creating planned ambushes in the path of the Zionist military at the place and time they want, and they are fully prepared to carry out combat and defensive ambushes in confrontation with the enemy.
The aforementioned resistance source noted: The Zionist regime's army has not been able to reach the war tunnels dug by the resistance in Gaza, and all rumors about the army's ability to destroy most of Hamas' tunnels are nothing more than lies, and the facts on the ground prove the falsehood of these claims.
He added: The fighters present in the field have been ordered to film and document all military operations against the enemy forces, and this is to expose the damage done to the occupying army inside Gaza, to refute the false narratives that the Zionists instill in their audiences, and to highlight the successes of the resistance and its ability to control the situation.
Hussein Fayyad, a commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades, is in charge of military operations in Beit Hanoun. He appeared in a video clip during the ceasefire and spoke about the losses suffered by the Israeli army and the regime’s defeat in Gaza. He said that the Zionists had not achieved their stated goals, which indicated their strategic failure.
It should be noted that the Israeli army had claimed in May 2024 that it had succeeded in assassinating Hussein Fayyad in an airstrike in northern Gaza, but this claim was later proven false.
On the other hand, Rami Abu Zubaydah, an Arab expert on Israeli security and military affairs, stated in an interview with Al Jazeera: Beit Hanoun, despite its limited area of only 12.5 square kilometers, is an important arena for the resistance to confront the Zionist enemy in Gaza, because Beit Hanoun is located near the northern and eastern security fences of the Gaza Strip.
He said: "The resistance's goal is to inflict maximum damage on the ranks of the Zionist military and end the occupation regime's control over the areas where its army is trying to establish itself. The recent operations of the Al-Qassam Brigades show that the resistance fighters have taken the initiative in targeting the occupiers and increasing the cost of their continued presence inside the Gaza Strip, and have constantly put the Zionist army on alert and in tension."
The security expert emphasized that resistance operations also have moral and spiritual dimensions, especially for its supporters, because resistance fighters are fighting in a region that is at risk of complete destruction. Evidence indicates the existence of a complex network of resistance tunnels in the Gaza Strip that the Zionists have not been able to reach, which allows resistance fighters to move easily and away from the enemy's eyes.
He concluded by stating: The videos released by Al-Qassam show the combat experience of resistance fighters and enable them to adapt to field conditions and preserve their military resources.
