"Jolani"'s letter to Trump: Will Syria become a member of the "Abraham" Pact?

Writing a letter to Trump and declaring Golani's readiness (read: begging) to join the Abraham Accords reflects the misunderstanding of the new Syrian rulers and their attachment to European-American promises.

According to Ashura News, quoted by Mehr News Agency, the life of the countries of the West Asian and North African region with the colonial existence of the Zionist regime has taught the leaders of the region a great lesson: whenever the Zionists receive a signal of weakness from one of the actors, they will not hesitate for a moment to strike at its political existence and, if possible, to occupy part of its territory. This “force-based” logic has caused countries such as Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and even Yemen to have very serious territorial disputes with the occupying regime of Jerusalem over the past 8 decades. After the fall of Bashar al-Assad, terrorist opponents based in northern and southern Syria began to occupy large parts of Syria, especially Damascus.

In the early hours, Benjamin Netanyahu officially announced by releasing a video from the Golan Heights that the regime had withdrawn from the 1974 agreement and would take whatever action was necessary to repel external threats against Israel. After releasing this message, the Zionist regime forces occupied the Hermon Heights and sent their tanks to Quneitra province.

At the same time, the Zionists have an active presence in the province of Sweida and are seeking to incite separatist sentiments among the Druze. Israeli warplanes have destroyed more than 90 percent of Syria’s defense capabilities in the naval, air, armored, and defense forces with more than 500 targeted attacks. Now, after several months of the Zionist occupation in Syria and the continuation of its sporadic attacks on the defense facilities of this war-torn country, Mohammad al-Julani announced his readiness to normalize relations with Israel and join the Abraham Accords in a meeting with representatives of Congress. Accordingly, in the rest of this note, we will try to answer the question of whether “post-Assad Syria” will board the Abraham Accords train or not?

Meeting with Representatives of Congress; From Caesar’s Sanctions to the Abraham Accords

On Thursday, April 24, Republican Congressman Corey Mills announced after meeting with “Julani” that Syria is seeking to normalize relations with the Zionist regime. Another Congressman, Marlene Stanzman, was also present during this meeting. Apparently, the agenda of the meeting between him and the new Syrian ruler was the lifting of sanctions and consideration of Syria's joining the Abraham Accords.

After the fall of Assad, the Netanyahu government, violating the 1974 agreement under the pretext of confronting potential threats in Syria, occupied a large part of the territory of this Arab country and destroyed almost all of the military capabilities of the new Syrian government! Now, representatives of the US Congress hope to pave the way for improving Damascus' relations with the West with the support of the Jewish-Arab lobbies.

The normalization of Tel Aviv-Damascus relations, like a political earthquake, could change the security order of the Eastern Mediterranean region. Previously, the presence of Syria, Lebanon, and the Gaza Strip had caused the Zionist regime to face a "ring of fire" situation. Now, with the fall of the previous Syrian regime and Hezbollah's focus on Lebanon's internal affairs, it is possible that the security and political order of this region will change forever.

Some experts believe that if the process of Syria’s accession to the Abraham Accords is successful, it is possible that Beirut, under the rule of Aoun-Salam, will be another candidate to join the pact. If this scenario occurs, resistance groups and elements will face a very complicated situation and may enter an unwanted and long-term crisis with other, non-aligned political forces. Netanyahu, by abusing the presence of right-wing forces in the White House, intends to pursue the ground for changing the geopolitical order of the Middle East and the territorial expansion of the Zionist regime. In the new era, we must wait and see whether peace with Arab rulers is more important to Netanyahu or the realization of the dream of a “Greater Israel”!

Some external observers believe that Golani’s announcement of readiness to normalize relations with Tel Aviv is a “strategic mistake” that will never be accepted by Israel. Historical experience has proven that the Zionists are more interested in realizing the dream of ruling “from the Nile to the Euphrates” than in seeking peace with Muslim countries.

Writing a letter to Trump and declaring Golani's readiness (read: begging) to join the Abraham Accords in the hope that the Zionists might leave the country, rather than being in line with reality, reflects the misunderstanding of the new Syrian rulers and their attachment to European-American promises. Syria has no chance of overcoming the current situation unless it provides all its military, humanitarian, and economic resources to Israel. In other words, if Syria normalizes relations with the Zionist regime, it will officially become a Zionist colony, and Golani, as a "governor," will simply be an executor of Netanyahu's orders. Now we must wait and see whether the leaders of the new Syrian government are dreaming of peace with Israel or will they back down from their decision?
