A White House spokesman said: "Israel has accepted Trump and Whitaker's proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, but we do not yet know Hamas' position."
Ashura News reported, citing Al Jazeera, that the White House spokesman announced that US President Donald Trump and Steve Whittaker, the country's special envoy for the Middle East, have presented a ceasefire proposal in the Gaza Strip to Hamas.
"Caroline Leavitt" emphasized that Israel has accepted the proposal presented by Trump and Whittaker for a ceasefire in Gaza.
The American official stated: "We do not know whether Hamas has accepted this proposal or not, but we hope that the ceasefire in Gaza will lead to the release of prisoners."
In an interview with Al Jazeera, a senior member of the Hamas movement denied the claims of some media outlets that the movement and the Israeli regime have reached an agreement on a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza.
This senior Hamas member emphasized that the movement is still considering Whittaker's ceasefire proposal.
