Araqchi: We hope that tensions between India and Pakistan will be resolved with foresight on both sides

In a meeting with the Indian Foreign Minister, the Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of stability and security in the South Asian region for Iran and the world, and expressed hope that the recent tensions would be resolved with the foresight and responsible will of the relevant parties.

According to Ashura News, quoted by ISNA, "Seyed Abbas Araghchi", the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who has traveled to New Delhi to consult with high-ranking Indian officials and hold the 20th meeting of the Iran-India Joint Commission, met with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Thursday.

In this meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister, referring to the long-standing history of civilizational, historical and cultural relations between Iran and India, emphasized the determination of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to expand relations between the two countries in various areas of mutual interest.

Araghchi also recalled the importance of economic and trade relations between Iran and India, and listed the implementation of various parts of the 10-year Chabahar cooperation agreement between Iran and India as a priority in the relations between the two countries, and called on the parties to use the abundant capacities of the two countries to promote economic cooperation.

Araghchi, expressing his pleasure at holding the 20th meeting of the Joint Commission between the two countries, considered this opportunity to discuss strengthening economic relations between the two countries to be very valuable.

Araghchi also emphasized the importance of stability and security in the South Asian region for the Islamic Republic of Iran and the world, and expressed hope that the recent tensions in this region will be resolved with the foresight and responsible will of the relevant parties.

The Indian Foreign Minister, welcoming the expansion of India-Iran bilateral relations in all areas of interest to both parties, considered the holding of the Joint Economic Commission to be very important at this time and emphasized India's readiness to identify and activate various opportunities for cooperation in various fields.

In this meeting, the parties discussed ways to strengthen relations between the two countries and implement bilateral agreements in the fields of economy, trade and transportation.

The two ministers also emphasized the expansion of cooperation in the form of multilateral diplomacy and international regional organizations such as BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and trilateral or quadrilateral cooperation with other countries in the region on issues of interest.

The two ministers also exchanged views on the latest security and political developments in the South Asian and West Asian regions, emphasizing the need for cooperation and assistance to reduce tensions, preserve peace and stability, and prevent the spread of tensions and conflicts.
