According to Ashura News, quoted by Mehr reporter, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, at the opening ceremony of the 6,500-seat Martyr Raisi Hall in the Samen-al-Aimmeh (AS) Sports Complex on Friday morning, while appreciating all those involved in the construction of this major project, described the complex as “a valuable capacity for the future of sports and youth in Khorasan Razavi.”
Stating that the opening of this hall is the result of a national and provincial determination, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly added: If it were not for the efforts and follow-up of the officials and people of the province, this project would not have been completed. As a fellow provincial, I sincerely thank all the loved ones who provided an important opportunity for the youth by building this hall.
Referring to the naming of this complex after Martyr Raisi, he said: This hall is decorated with the name of a martyr who worked hard to elevate the country, and today this complex is a reminder of the same spirit of sacrifice and effort.
Sports; The most social phenomenon after religion
Emphasizing the unique role of sports in society, Ghalibaf stated: After religion, sports are the most social phenomenon in human society; a phenomenon that is not related to age, ethnicity, religion, or a specific class and includes all strata.
The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly added: Sports are effective and create a platform in all cultural, social, economic, and even political dimensions. Sports both establish norms and prevent abnormalities. They also play a unique role in diplomacy and public relations and create the greatest impact with the least cost.
He cited an example of this impact after the 12-day war and said: After that difficult period, our concern was to maintain social cohesion, and we saw how sports became the fastest tool for creating this cohesion.
Sports are a symbol of hope and will; low-cost and highly beneficial
Referring to the intrinsic values of sports, Ghalibaf said: Sports are the peak of excitement, hope, effort, and perseverance. From any angle we look at it, sports have the lowest cost but create the most benefits in various dimensions for society.
The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly emphasized: If we want a cohesive society, we must rely on sports. Sports are popular and we, the officials, should not be its obstacles; rather, we must be true facilitators.

The presence of women in sports; an example of wise and prudent administration
Referring to the position of women in the country's sports, Ghalibaf said: As the birth anniversary of Hazrat Fatima Zahra (PBUH) approaches, I must emphasize that the presence of women in the field of sports is one of our most successful experiences today. Despite some ambivalence or misbehavior, we saw that Iranian women entered various fields with prudence and planning, competed, and created pride.
The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly added: Gender should not be an obstacle to women's presence in the stadium or sports field. Sports are the best tool for institutionalizing cultural and Islamic values.
Developing sports in the province; requires completing the infrastructure and strengthening the teams
Referring to his conversation with the governor of Khorasan Razavi, he said: Fortunately, there are very good infrastructures in Mashhad and Khorasan Razavi. We must try to form strong teams and professional athletes in the province along with this infrastructure so that we can witness a serious leap in sports in this region.
