According to Ashura News, quoted by Mehr News Agency, Hojjatoleslam Hamid Shahriari, Secretary General of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Denominations, explained the achievements of the International Conference on Islamic Unity and the recent changes in the approach of some Islamic countries. Referring to the holding of the 39th International Conference on Islamic Unity, he stated: This event is designed with the aim of bringing Islamic denominations closer together and creating bridges of communication between them. He continued: This year's conference will be held under the title "The Prophet of Mercy and Unity of the Ummah", which is planned to mark the 1,500th anniversary of the birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). So far, more than 200 articles have been submitted for this conference, and its main themes include the concept of unity and the Islamic Ummah, contemporary challenges, the role of Islamic scholars in the unification of the Islamic Ummah, and the impact of unity on the resistance economy and regional peace.

The Secretary General of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Denominations, emphasizing the importance of unity in the Islamic world, noted: Today, the Islamic world needs unity and convergence more than ever. Unfortunately, in the past decades, some countries promoted Takfiri thinking by investing in the seminaries of other countries. But in the last two years, we have witnessed a change in their approach. They have abandoned their previous policy.

In another part of his speech, he referred to the holding of a similar conference by the Saudis and said: For the first time, the Saudis have agreed to be in a common frame with us. This conference was held under the title of creating bridges between Islamic sects and indicates a change in their language from takfir to rapprochement. This is a great success for the World Forum for the Rapprochement of Islamic Sects, which has turned the discourse of unity into the dominant discourse over the past thirty years.

He also referred to the role of unity in strengthening the resistance economy and regional cooperation and added: The unity of the Islamic Ummah can be effective in ensuring regional peace and security and the authority and dignity of the Islamic world. In addition, the Gaza issue is also one of the most central current discourses in the Islamic world, and the Islamic Unity Conference can be a platform for examining solutions to support the Palestinian people.

Shahriari emphasized: "Our ultimate goal is to be able to present the new Islamic civilization to the world and demand the Islamic world's share in the political, economic, and cultural fields. This requires greater dialogue and convergence among Islamic countries. Fortunately, today, countries that previously played a divergent role have now moved towards convergence, because this is the demand of the Islamic nation."

He added: "The holding of the International Islamic Unity Conference and the change in approach of some Islamic countries, such as Saudi Arabia, indicate the importance and effectiveness of the unity discourse in the Islamic world. As this trend continues, it is hoped that the contemporary challenges of the Islamic world, including Takfiri thinking and regional issues such as Gaza, will be resolved through greater unity and convergence."

The Secretary General of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Religions said: "This conference also provides an opportunity for scholars and thinkers of the Islamic world to present their articles and views to strengthen the unity and solidarity of the Islamic Ummah. Considering the submission of more than two hundred articles so far, it is expected that this conference will have important achievements in various fields, including politics, economics, and culture."
