The head of the Awqaf Organization said: "Currently, 800 shrines host religious delegations, but we must increase this number to 2,000 in order to fulfill the Supreme Leader's decree on transforming the holy shrines into cultural hubs."
According to Ashura News, quoted by Mehr reporter, Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Mahdi Khamushi, at the National Conference to Commemorate the Imams’ Descendants, which was held this evening, Wednesday, May 10, 2020, referring to the importance of role models in individual and social life, said: In the Holy Quran, sometimes individuals and sometimes families are introduced as role models; the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his family are the symbols of role models in Islam.
Stating that humanity’s need for role models is obvious, he added: God has placed signs such as the sun and the moon to distinguish the right path from the wrong one and has also raised prophets on the path of guidance. They do not speak of selfish desires, but rather explain divine revelation.
The head of the Endowment Organization emphasized: The sacred existence of prophets has been determined for the legislative guidance of humans. If we want to reach Paradise and divine closeness, we must know its path and enter that path by following the example of prophets and imams.
He added: The Prophet of Islam (PBUH) used to deal with enemies sometimes with force and sometimes with dialogue. These wise behaviors should be a model for us, and if we fail in the path of propagating and communicating the religion, the duty of the mission has not been completed.
Referring to the status of the families of the prophets and saints, Khamis noted: The Holy Quran mentions the role of believing, chaste, and modest women in raising righteous generations. Homes where the remembrance of God is ongoing are the places where guided humans grow.
He continued: In the holy places, children, later and earlier generations, companions, and narrators of the religion are present, who show the way like stars of guidance.
Referring to the management structure of the holy shrines, the head of the Endowment Organization said: There are five shrines in the country that have special guardianship by the decree of the Supreme Leader, including Hazrat Shah Cheragh (AS), Astan Quds Razavi, Hazrat Abdul Azim (AS), Hazrat Masoumeh (SA) and other special shrines. The other shrines are managed under the supervision of committed and expert trustees.
He added: We are grateful to all the trustees and managers of the shrines who, despite the administrative differences, have provided effective management. The management structure of the shrines consists of the CEO, the Board of Trustees and executive managers who must keep the cultural, historical and social functions of the shrines active.
Referring to the role of the shrines in attracting the younger generation, Khamis stated: The shrines should be a safe haven for the younger generation; a place to attend religious ceremonies, pray and communicate with God. These spaces should be strengthened day by day with trust-building and proper management.
Referring to the presence of delegations at the holy sites during Muharram, he said: "Currently, 800 shrines host religious delegations, but we need to increase this number to 2,000 in order to fulfill the Supreme Leader's decree on transforming the holy sites into cultural hubs."
In conclusion, the head of the Awqaf Organization, referring to the organization's financial resources, said: "We are an institution that does not use government funds and income and expenses are managed independently. The financial situation of many holy sites has improved, and we hope this trend will continue."
