Netanyahu's coalition on the verge of collapse

The results of a new poll in occupied Palestine show that the ruling coalition led by Benjamin Netanyahu has lost a significant part of its base and will not be able to form a cabinet if early elections are held.

According to Ashura News, citing Fars News Agency, the Israeli newspaper "Ma'ariv" reported today (Friday) that a new poll conducted by the "Lazar Research" center shows that Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet, which is in power with a fragile coalition, will win only 47-48 seats out of 120 seats in the Knesset (Israeli parliament) if parliamentary elections are held, which is far below the minimum 61 seats required to form a government. A large part of this drop is due to the failure of the "Religious Zionism" party to pass the threshold for entering parliament. In contrast, the "Blue and White" party, which had previously performed poorly, has again managed to pass the quorum. According to the poll, the Likud party led by Netanyahu remains the largest party and will win 25 seats, but immediately after that, the newly established party of "Naftali Bennett", former Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, will appear with 24 seats and effectively become the prime minister's direct competitor.

The party of Gadi Eisenkot, the former chief of staff of the Israeli army, will win about 6 seats, and if Yossi Cohen, the former head of the Mossad, also forms an independent party, he could win 4 seats; a figure that would make him a "balancer" in Israeli politics. On the other hand, the opposition parties led by Bennett will hold a total of about 59 to 62 seats. On the other hand, the Arab parties will win 10 seats, which, although they do not usually enter into cabinet coalitions, can play a decisive role in sensitive situations. Ma'ariu says that this result was achieved in a situation in which Israel is still engaged in the Gaza war, the prisoner crisis and street protests. In such an environment, the decline in support for Netanyahu's cabinet could pave the way for serious political developments in the occupied territories.
