Ömer Çelik, spokesman for the ruling Justice and Development Party in Turkey, also stated on Monday that the country is strongly opposed to any foreign intervention in Iran.
Ömer Çelik said: "Foreign interventions against Iran raise serious concerns and Turkey is categorically opposed to it."
He stressed that throughout history, such interventions have always failed.
Çelik added: "We are following the situation in Iran with serious concern. We are categorically opposed to any foreign intervention in Iran. This would be completely wrong. Whether it is direct foreign intervention or an attempted coup with foreign intervention, it will have very serious consequences and create problems for Iran. The will of the Iranian people must be respected."
