Funeral Ceremony of IRGC Qods Force Deputy Commander Held in Central Iran

TEHRAN (FNA)- The funeral ceremony of the Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Qods Force, Brigadier General Seyed Mohammad Hejazi, was held in his hometown, Isfahan city, in Central Iran on Tuesday.

According to ashoora reporting from Fars news : hundreds of people and Iranian government and military officials participated in the ceremony under health protocols amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Addressing the ceremony, IRGC Qods Force Commander Brigadier General Esmayeel Qa’ani said that martyr Hejazi paved the path of Iran’s anti-terror Commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated by the US in Iraq in 2020.

“Today, you see different fronts of resistance have been formed from Islamic Iran to Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and Yemen. The offsprings of the resistance, who have educated in this school, take fundamental actions every day against the enemies of the revolution and Islam, led by the US and the bloodthirsty Zionist regime,” he said.

General Qa’ani underlined that the glorious path of resistance will continue.

Also, Top military Aide to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi addressed the ceremony on Tuesday morning.

He said that the IRGC Qods Force and those who were martyred in the fight against the terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq and other martyrs like General Hejazi guaranteed Iran’s security and defended the regional and national interests of Iran against the threats posed by the Zionist regime and the US and their agents, including the ISIL.

General Rahim Safavi said that the oppressed nations of Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Palestine have for years stood against the US and Zionist occupiers and their agents, and the blood of their martyrs will soon drive the Americans out of the West Asian region after 20 years.

Brigadier General Seyed Mohammad Hossein Hejazi, a veteran of the Iraqi imposed war on Iran in the 1980s who was suffering the chemical wounds of the war throughout the past several decades, died of heart failure on Sunday evening.After his demise, the IRGC extended its condolences over the loss of the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the Iranian nation, General Hejazi’s family, his comrades in arms in the IRGC and Basij, and fighters of the Resistance Front.

The Leader expressed his condolences to General Hejazi’s family, relatives and friends, saying the deceased led a life of tireless efforts and had a “creative intellect” and a “heart full of sincere faith”.

He was “full of motivation and determination, a force completely devoted to Islam and the Revolution,” Ayatollah Khamenei wrote in a message.

“He served in big and influential positions in the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps and emerged with his head held high and successful in all of them,” the Leader said. “His absence is truly a source of regret and sorrow.”

General Hejazi’s passing also prompted huge outpourings of condolences from top Iranian authorities and commanders, including Judiciary Chief Ebrahim Rayeesi, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri, and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Rayeesi praised Hejazi as a “sincere and faithful commander” who put great efforts to help the Islamic Resistance Front.

“In addition to playing a role in the victory of the Revolution, commanding during the Sacred Defense (Iran-Iraq war) era and organizing the Basij force, General Hejazi was a ‘shining star of the Axis of Resistance,’” Qalibaf wrote in his message.

The secretary-general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement also expressed his condolences in a message to Ayatollah Khamenei as well as in two separate messages to IRGC Chief Major General Hossein Salami and Brigadier General Qa'ani.

“We are very saddened to hear of the passing of General Hejazi, and that while he was at the peak of his jihad and also when the Axis of Resistance needed his blessed presence,” Seyed Hassan Nasrallah’s letter said.

"He was a great brother, a strong and self-sacrificing supporter, a moral example, and an experienced and intellectual person," the letter added.
