According to Ashura News, citing the Lebanese news site "Al-Ahed", in a report written by Iraqi journalist "Adel Al-Jubouri", "Saeed Khatibzadeh, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, met and discussed with a number of high-ranking Iraqi officials during his two-day visit to Baghdad. The main focus of these meetings was to examine mechanisms for improving relations between Iran and Iraq in various dimensions, as well as ways to confront regional security and political threats and challenges in light of the Zionist regime's aggression against Palestine, Yemen and Syria. According to official media reports, the two sides emphasized the need for cooperation and convergence of influential countries in the region to create stability and lasting security.

According to this report, in Khatibzadeh's meeting with Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Iraq, the conditions resulting from the "de facto war" against the Islamic Republic of Iran in the shadow of the Zionist regime's attacks were explained.

According to a statement from the Iraqi Foreign Ministry’s media office, Khatibzadeh explained in the meeting that these conditions have led to a redefinition of security and military concepts in Iran, as well as a change in the political approaches in the Islamic Republic’s international relations.

The statement adds: In the meeting between the two sides, in addition to reviewing the Iran-Europe negotiations and the ongoing talks with three European countries (England, France, and Germany), the positions raised in the Security Council and the role of China and Russia in Iran-related cases were also discussed. The Iraqi Foreign Minister also emphasized Baghdad’s commitment to supporting the process of dialogue and understanding to strengthen stability and security at the regional and global levels.

In a meeting between the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister and Iraqi National Security Advisor Qassem al-Araji, Khatibzadeh explained the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran while supporting the Iraqi government’s efforts to stabilize security, develop the economy, and move toward progress. Al-Araji also praised Iran’s political approach and emphasized that this policy has paved the way for strengthening dialogue and resorting to diplomacy in the region.

According to a statement from the Iraqi National Security Advisor’s media office, the meeting reviewed the latest developments in the region and initiatives related to establishing stability and preventing conflicts, and the two sides agreed that dialogue and diplomacy are the only sustainable solutions to crises and problems at the regional and global levels.

Analyzing this trip, Hafez Al-Bishara, a political and media researcher, said in an interview with Al-Ahed News Agency: This trip is in line with the visits of officials from the two countries, which seems necessary to expand security, economic, political and cultural cooperation. Also, after the Arbaeen pilgrimage, which was attended by more than three million Iranian pilgrims, such trips will lead to greater coordination and convergence between the two countries in important regional developments.

He added: This meeting is of double importance at a time when the Zionist regime’s crimes in Gaza continue and the regime’s Prime Minister’s threats to expand aggression against countries in the region, as well as open threats against Iran and Iraq. For this reason, continuous communication between the two countries is inevitable to confront common dangers.

Salah Al-Arqawi, a professor at the University of Sulaymaniyah, also said about this visit: This meeting should not be viewed only as a protocol occasion, but its timing indicates its special importance in the current sensitive and fateful conditions of the region and the world.

He added: The common goals and destiny of Iran and Iraq have found a decisive place in regional and international equations, especially against the hostile plans pursued against the axis of resistance.

Al-Ahed concluded by writing: The visit of the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister to Baghdad took place about two weeks after the visit of Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to Iraq and Lebanon. This synchronism expresses Iran’s determination to deepen strategic relations with Iraq and utilize all common capacities for broader cooperation in the future.
