Official: 66% Growth in Petchem Exports to Uzbekistan

TEHRAN (FNA)- The head of international affairs of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) announced a 66% rise in the export of Iranian petrochemicals to Uzbekistan in 2021 compared to the previous year.

According to NPC, speaking on the sidelines of the visit of Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Energy, Abdijamil Imiaminovitch, to the 16th Iran Plast International Exhibition on Saturday, Hossein Alimurad stated that the cooperation capacities between Iran and Uzbekistan are very high, adding: “Based on the talks I had in Uzbekistan earlier, a joint working group is supposed to be established between the two countries to develop relations between the two countries in the field of petrochemicals as well as oil and gas.”

Stating that daily equivalent to 1.1 million barrels of crude oil feedstock is converted into petrochemicals in Iran's petrochemical complexes, he said: “Currently, the nominal capacity of petrochemical complexes in Iran is about 91 million tons per year, of which 65 million tons are produced practically.”

The head of international affairs of NPC added: “Iran currently has 41 active petrochemical complexes and 38 projects under construction in its two petrochemical hubs, namely, Mahshahr and Asalouyeh, and in the next 10 years, four new petrochemical hubs with 30 new projects will be added to this figure.”
