At a congress commemorating the 18,000 martyrs of Khorasan Razavi, the speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly called the 90 million-strong Iranian nation "a solid pillar of the system" and considered the people's resistance in the recent war a manifestation of Iranian culture.
According to Ashura News, quoted by Mehr News Agency, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stated on Friday evening at the closing ceremony of the 18,000 Khorasan Razavi Martyrs Congress: Khorasan is a place of thought and martyrdom and a cradle of courage and honor.
The speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly said: Khorasan is a place of logic and its men are people of thought and action.
He continued: The people of this region of the country were brave in all areas of defending the homeland, especially the sacred defense, and were stylish in all fields.
Qalibaf continued to honor the memory of the martyrs and said: Holding these gatherings makes the hearts of the martyrs' families happy and prevents the martyrs' comrades from being negligent in the face of sedition.
The speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly said: The culture of martyrs is the only authentic path of Islamic life; the divine tradition does not change, and the martyrs are the awakened conscience of society, not merely the memory of history.
He considered the martyrs' deal with God to be the greatest benefit and added: Every day, every breath and every organ of the human body must be dedicated to God.
Qalibaf called the martyrs' achievement beyond military victories and said: The martyrs learned the culture of sacrifice and the logic of honor. A brave Iranian who loves the Ahl al-Bayt never steps on his honor.
Recalling the 12-day war against the Zionist regime, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly said: The youth of the 60s and 70s stood in the field without delay despite the high risk of martyrdom.
He called Khorasan's role in the sacred defense "unparalleled" and added: From the Golestan road to Nehbandan, all operations witnessed the presence of this province's forces and a total of 24,000 martyrs from Greater Khorasan were dedicated to the revolution.
Qalibaf recalled the epic battles and the operations of Khyber and Badr and said: The bravery that commanders such as Martyr Ali Mardani, Martyr Rafiei, and... achieved.
The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly considered the presence of Khorasanis in engineering, artillery, infantry and Imam Reza (AS) units to be prominent and pointed to the sacrifices made after the war in ensuring the security of the country.
He considered the recent 12-day war a new example of the brilliance of the youth of Khorasan and emphasized: Khorasan is the cradle of culture, courage, guardianship and honor, and this path will continue.
