During her visit to the University of Science and Technology, the First Vice President emphasized the strategic role of universities in the post-war era and called for implementing incentive policies for the return of Iranian elites and professors, saying: "We must utilize the potential of Iranians interested in serving the country."
According to Ashura News, citing IRNA, Mohammad Reza Aref visited the University of Science and Technology and met with the president, directors, and faculty members of the university. Referring to the country's passage through conspiracies, coups, and various wars in the past five decades, he said: "The enemy sought to overthrow the regime in the 12-Day War, but the people thwarted his calculations, and in the Ramadan War, despite losses and martyrdom, the Iranian nation was able to defeat the puppet power of America."
Referring to the changing conditions in the country after the Ramadan War, he added: "In these conditions, universities have a more important responsibility. Universities have played a civilization-building role since the beginning of the revolution, and today they must also play a role in solving the country's challenges, developing science and technology, and achieving scientific authority in the world."
The First Vice President, stating that today's wars are wars of science and technology, stated: The country's scientific and technological advances played a decisive role in the recent war, and for this reason, the enemy targeted universities and scientific centers.
He emphasized: With the country's elites, experts, and academics, there is no concern about the reconstruction, improvement, and modernization of damaged centers, and universities should play a pivotal role in formulating the country's programs in accordance with the new post-war conditions.
Arif also referred to the issue of elite migration and said: In the second and third imposed wars, we witnessed a reverse migration of elites and people to the country. We must use the capacity of Iranians interested in serving the country and, by designing appropriate incentives, pave the way for the return of elites and professors.
He added: We should not look for why professors emigrated, but rather think about bringing them back. By attracting Iranian experts and professors, modern technologies and world-class knowledge can be transferred to the country.
The First Vice President finally emphasized the necessity of national division of labor between universities and other institutions to advance the country's strategic plans, and said: The government also has a duty to follow up on the livelihood issues of professors and students, and one of the government's plans is to move towards transforming universities into public scientific institutions.
