According to Ashura News, citing the Lebanese News Agency, the meeting of the Lebanese Council of Ministers to review the army's plan to monopolize weapons in the hands of the government began moments ago at the Lebanese Presidential Palace, with the presence of President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.

Al-Mayadeen reported that a bilateral meeting was held between Nawaf Salam and Joseph Aoun before the meeting.

Shiite ministers in the Lebanese cabinet, including ministers from the Amal Movement and Hezbollah, announced that they would not participate in the review of the Lebanese army plan, because this plan is a tool for making a government decision that is contrary to the national pact.

Army commander arrives

Moments ago, Lebanese army commander Rudolf Heikal also arrived at the presidential palace to attend the cabinet meeting.

Shiite ministers leave the meeting

Following the presence of Lebanese army commander Rudolf Heikal in the cabinet meeting to review the plan to monopolize weapons for the Lebanese government, four Shiite ministers in the cabinet affiliated with the Amal Movement and Hezbollah left the meeting. Fadi Makki was another Lebanese minister who left the cabinet meeting to discuss solutions to disarm the resistance.

Rekan Nasser al-Din and Mohammed Haidar were two of the ministers who left the main hall of the presidential palace where the meeting was held and went to an adjacent hall.

Reason for leaving the meeting by Shiite ministers

Mohammed Haidar, the Shiite Minister of Labor in the Lebanese cabinet, said in an interview with Lebanon's Al-Manar TV that the Shiite ministers' withdrawal from the cabinet meeting was in line with opposing the American document in the cabinet.

He added that the army commander will present his plan at the government meeting and we are waiting for its results to make a decision based on it, and the contacts are still ongoing.

Mohammed Haidar continued: "We will wait to see what happens in the meeting and then we will make a decision, and any decision made without representatives of the Shiite community is illegal."

The Lebanese minister clarified: "We did not discuss anything related to the army plan and left the Baabda Palace and will not return to the meeting."

He added that after discussing four other items, the cabinet agenda reached the army plan item, following which the Shiite ministers walked out of the meeting.

Macki: I will resign if necessary

Fadi Macki, the independent Shiite minister in the Lebanese cabinet, has prepared his resignation in handwriting and has gone to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and told him that he will submit his resignation if necessary.
