The Zionists' overt and covert goals in the Sweida sedition; the disintegration project on the agenda

The Golani regime's crimes in the Druze province of Sweida have once again provided the Zionists with the necessary excuse to expand their movements in Syria and advance goals such as the dismemberment of the country.

According to Ashura News, citing Al-Mayadeen, in recent days, the Zionist occupiers have carried out numerous airstrikes on areas in southern Syria, targeting Damascus and two sensitive government headquarters, the presidential palace and the army headquarters.

The Zionist regime’s military and political officials said that their goal in these attacks was to protect the regime’s security and also claimed that they were seeking to support the Druze minority in Syria.

But what are the Zionist regime’s hidden interests behind the slogan of supporting minorities, and here in particular the Syrian Druze?

The Druze minority in a sensitive security area

The Syrian Druze minority lives near the occupied Golan Heights, which is a sensitive security area, and most of the Druze are in southern Syria, mainly in the Sweida province along the northeastern border with occupied Palestine; where the Zionist regime has considered it as a security buffer zone for itself.

The importance of the Sweida province near the Golan Heights has led many Zionist officials, especially Israel Katz, the occupying regime's Minister of War, to describe this region and other areas of southern Syria, especially the areas near the occupied Golan, as strategic and sensitive points.

On February 23, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the occupying regime, taking advantage of the repressive and brutal policies of the Abu Muhammad Golani regime against minorities, claimed to protect the Syrian Druze community and announced that southern Syria, and specifically the provinces of Quneitra, Daraa and Sweida, must be demilitarized.

In recent days, when the terrorist elements of the Golani regime launched bloody massacres against the Druze in Sweida, the Zionist regime entered the field under the same repeated pretext of protecting the Druze, and the regime's Minister of War said that the policy of demilitarizing southern Syria must be implemented.

With these interpretations, the Zionists have used the presence of the Druze in southern Syria and near the occupied Golan Heights as an excuse to demilitarize it in order to create a buffer zone between the Syrian border and occupied Palestine.

In this regard, the occupying regime’s authorities are seeking to gain the support of some Druze figures and groups in Sweida. Of course, the majority of the Druze have so far refused to cooperate with the occupiers under any pretext, but the wave of sedition continues.

Here, Mawaqaf Tarif, the spiritual leader of the Druze community in occupied Palestine, who is a pawn of the Zionist regime and is known to spy for the regime, called on the occupying regime’s cabinet to take immediate action after the wave of violence in Sweida. Mawaqaf Tarif claimed that if we do not protect our Syrian brothers, we will witness a widespread popular conflict.

Statistics show that the Druze of the occupied territories of 1948 are part of the military structure of the Zionist regime and constitute approximately 5% of the regular forces of this regime annually. Therefore, the slogan of protecting the Druze of Syria, given the history that the Druze Arabs have in the Zionist army, is a good excuse for the occupiers to expand their influence and occupations in Syrian territory.

The Zionist regime and the project to divide Syria

Since the establishment of the fake Zionist regime in 1948, the main goal of this regime has been to weaken and divide the countries of the region to ensure its security, and Syria, neighboring occupied Palestine, was the most strategic country that the Zionists tried to infiltrate and constantly talked about dividing it.

For example, Moshe Ya’alon, the former Minister of War of the Zionist regime, said at the Munich Security Conference in 2016 that Syria, as we know it, will never remain united in the near future.

In the same context, the then Israeli Minister of Intelligence, Tom Ben-Barak, said: "I believe that Syria should ultimately be divided into several regions, and partition is the only possible solution." Therefore, observers believe that the recent heavy attacks by the Israeli regime on Syria under the pretext of supporting the Druze may ultimately lead to the launch of the project to divide Syria, which carries widespread risks.

The partition of Syria also creates opportunities for the Israeli regime to unite with groups opposing the new regime in Damascus; something that the Zionists seem to be trying to do with the Druze.

As a result, Syria will lack a unified central decision-making body; especially since the Golan regime has proven its complete incompetence and has shown that, contrary to its claims, it does not care about Syria and its people and is willing to give them any concessions that the United States and the Israeli regime want in order to remain in power; including the official transfer of the Golan to the occupiers.

Using the Druze as a diplomatic and intelligence pressure card

A few days ago, the Israeli I24 News website reported that Abu Muhammad Golani met with Israeli officials in Azerbaijan, and the purpose of these meetings was to discuss further details of the security agreement that is to be signed between Damascus and Tel Aviv.

Also, some sources familiar with the atmosphere of Golani's negotiations with Israeli officials reported that Golani was willing to officially cede the Golan to the Israelis in exchange for the regime's support to remain in power.

However, despite the passage of only a few days of these negotiations, following bloody clashes in the Sweida province, the Israeli regime took action, claiming to protect the Druze in this area, and bombed Syrian government headquarters in Damascus. At the same time, Netanyahu said that he would not allow Syrian military forces to enter southern Damascus.

Some analysts believe that the Israeli regime is seeking to increase field pressure in the negotiations with the Golani regime in order to gain concessions from it, under the pretext of protecting the Druze. However, gaining points from the Golani does not require much effort.

The Intelligence Importance of Convergence with the Druze

On December 9, 2024, Shlomi Bandar, the head of the Israeli military intelligence, met with Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif on the orders of Israel Katz to pave the way for the regime’s intelligence cooperation with the Syrian Druze amid the escalation of tensions near the Golan Heights.

In this context, the Hebrew website Jewish Future recently published a report on the importance of the Druze in the Israeli intelligence work, stating that Tel Aviv considers the role of the Druze at the intelligence level to be very important, because they have a deep understanding of the cultural norms, family structures, and public opinion of Arab society, which is very important and useful for secret intelligence operations.

Despite the intensive and conspiratorial efforts of the Israeli regime to attract the Syrian Druze to intelligence work, these efforts have not yet yielded tangible results.

Yusuf al-Jarbou, the sheikh of wisdom of the Syrian Druze community, emphasized in this regard that the people of Sweida are loyal to their land and do not accept any foreign intervention or direction. Walid Hanblat, the leader of the Lebanese Druze community and former head of the country's Progressive Socialist Party, has also repeatedly warned against falling into the Zionist trap during the recent sedition that the Zionist regime has created in Sweida.

In this context, a few days ago, Walid Jumblatt, emphasizing that the Zionist regime does not protect anyone and that its goal is to incite tensions and massacres in Sweida, called on the people of this province to be careful of the movements and seditions of the occupiers and not to fall into their trap.

However, the most likely scenario that observers predict regarding the Zionist regime's movements in Syria is the project to divide the country with the support of the United States and its allies, and the Golan regime has paved the way for the implementation of these dangerous American-Zionist plans against Syria, and we must wait for future developments in this country.
